The extent to which a sunshade protects from UV radiation is expressed in UPF: Ultraviolet Protection Factor. A UV spectrometer measures how much UVB and UVA radiation permeates a fabric. UPF 50+ means a maximum of 2% of the harmful UV radiation passes that material. In other words, your Falcone® personal parasol blocks at least 98% of this radiation! Keep in mind that no parasol can fully protect you from UV radiation. That’s because sunshine is reflected by air particles, causing UV radiation to reach your skin even when using a parasol.
